# Roadmap

Firebolt Core is a first-class product among Firebolt editions and will continue to receive updates and new features on a regular basis. Features and extensions on the current Firebolt Core roadmap include the following (listed in no particular order). Firebolt Core will additionally receive many of the features released in future versions of [managed Firebolt](https://www.firebolt.io/).

* Support for local filesystem access with [COPY TO](/reference-sql/commands/data-management/copy-to), [COPY FROM](/reference-sql/commands/data-management/copy-from), and [CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE](/reference-sql/commands/data-definition/create-external-table), as well as for the `read_xyz(..)` family of table-valued functions.
* Support for Firebolt Core within the existing [Firebolt ecosystem](/guides/developing-with-firebolt).
* Support for exposing observability information.
